A haunting accompaniment

A review of Unknown Music from Dream Quest of Kadath.

Cyoakha Grace O’Manion’s soundtrack to The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath is a haunting and beautiful tapestry of music to accompany one of H. P. Lovecraft’s most beautiful and fantastic tales.

The soundtrack is a collection of highlights from the movie music tracks, usually full-length tracks of things only glimpsed in the movie. The movie itself includes a special audio track that plays the animation and only the music, remixed to full volume, so this is an opportunity to hear even the most obscure tracks from that movie.

A thing to note about the music. The Dreamlands is a surreal place, where fantasy and horror coincide with altered realities, ancient history, and the grinding wheels of love, pain, and Time itself. The Director’s instructions to the Composer where to try and reflect this surreal quality in the music, to produce music that wasn’t recognizable as being from the Earth we all know. No recognizable instruments. No recognizable phrases. The soundtrack to The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath does exactly this and more!

It’s gorgeous and lush and shouldn’t be missed!
