Be wary of those who insist that they are simply acting from “moral values,” when the results of their values include pain and heartbreak, for either they are masking evil behind that façade, or their morals are dark and dire.
In either case, they are poisonous bedfellows.
“Atheists can’t be trusted to operate morally,” basically means “If I weren’t being threatened by eternal damnation I’d be a complete bag of dicks, and I can’t imagine anyone else doing better than me at self-control, either.”
