What, this site isn't a good enough example? Haven't you noticed how fast it runs, how quickly each page loads?
Recently, I was tasked to rewrite the website for a small movie production company, Maelstrom Productions. Their website was an interesting project because they had several movies all in various stages of production, but we wanted to keep the site as accessible as possible. The design of the front page is very simple: navigation links and a list of movie projects. under each project is a recent excerpt from that project's "What's new?" section. Thus, any change to any project assured the front page of being updated as well.
Maelstrom Productions' site uses CSS extensively for positioning and layout.
The fastest major website I ever built is United Airlines' UAL Corporation Restructuring Information website. Speedy!
I've built two extensive HTML-based Systems Documentation sites. They're internal and not accessible from the Internet, but if you want to see a sample, please contact me and I'll try to grab a screenshot or two. They're also quite speedy -- both documenting enterprise-level applications.
My most extensive public web site was the Internet presence of Molectron Detector, Inc. (r.i.p.). Molectron is a manufacturer of test equipment for measuring laser power and energy and they've been gobbled by a competitor.
The official site for the movie adaptation of The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath will probably be familiar. As usual, navigation is on the right, taking a second seat to the actual content (although I should point out that the bulk of this site is driven by CSS for positioning, so it is not necessarily the case that the menu is along the right. I just like it that way).
I've done a rewrite of a site in New Mexico for Sollid Optics. The site as originally built had lots of dense graphics on it -- even an inexplicably large background image. I spent a couple of hours on it, clearing away loads of excessive code, and voila -- a site that runs like lightning. Thank you very much.
Curiously, I'm available for contract work. Call or write me today!
