My daughter turned me on to these books while we were on a trip. The best part was that I was reading The Illuminatus! Trilogy at the same time, so no matter how I wanted to read about funky sex, I could pick up whichever book wasn't being read.
Obviously, there are all sorts of reviews online for this book. Most are positive, some negative. Some call into question Auel's research. Some don't. I happen to think this was just an interesting book to read. I mean, yeah, maybe people spoke in sign and maybe they didn't, or maybe they had old remembering-back-through-our-ancestors Memories or maybe they didn't. But two facts basically make this a fine read for me. 1. I enjoyed it. 2. I was tempted to try learning how to use a sling after reading it.
And, if you want to try making and using one of the weapons you just read about in a book, I think that says things about the book, you know?
And yes, I did make a sling and it was pretty cool.
