The Launch is my latest feature script, a cross-country adventure. Three teenagers, on their Spring Break, decide to drive to Florida to watch the space shuttle launch. En route, they are pursued by a dizzying array of followers: people who hail them as symbolizing the last of a crazy spirit and those who see them as the remaining bit of chaos that must be squashed.
The destruction of the space shuttle Columbia and the resultant finger-pointing and paranoia has basically killed our space program and despite the rootin'-tootin' pronouncements of the Administration, I think we're still a long way from any sort of revolutionary new space vehicle. What this means is that the essential premise behind The Launch is a non-event (currently). Therefore, it has to be re-tooled before we can realy start looking for funding for it.
I used to have a poster for this movie, but I wasn't really that fond of it, so I got rid of it.
