It's a What?! [back to top]
It's a party! Edward's annual birthday party ('cause we don't do 'em semi-annual, ever since that little problem with the Futurascope crew).

Date and Time [back to top]
Saturday, February 4, 2006.
6pm to midnight.

Location, Location, Location! [back to top]
This will be at our house: 11105 SW Cottonwood Lane, Tigard, 97223. In general, one gets there by taking 217 to the Greenberg Exit, heading south on Greenberg to Tiedeman, right on Tiedeman, immediately soft-right onto North Dakota, right on 115th, and right on Cottonwood Lane. One may wish to take other routes as well. One may wish to teleport. If so, one may need coordinates: N 45°26' 27.3", W 122° 47' 31".

What's the Theme Mean? [back to top]
Alternate History is one of those rare and wonderful disciplines that we all engage in at one time or another. At its simplest level, it's a game of playing "what if?". What if the Pilgrims had fallen prey to the Bermuda Triangle and the New World remained well defended for another hundred years, eventually populated from the south by the Aztecs? What if we had stumbled onto some sort of crazy magnetic-hyperspace drive in the 19th Century? What if the War of Northern Aggression had been successfully repelled and the States virtually independent? What if religion were considered a mental illness? What if... well, you get the picture. Alternate histories. Things that didn't happen, but might have happened -- if only!.

If you're still not sure what I'm talking about, check out "Alternate History" on Google. Neat stuff!

What Should I Bring? [back to top]
Easy! Think of a good alternate history. It can be one you make up or one someone else made up. Now's your chance to play the biggest game of "what-if" you ever had. Plus, you'll be in a houseful of people playing it as well! Dress the part of your Alternate History, or bring along instructional materials, or just be ready to talk with other people about how your Alternate History came about. What was the catalytic event? What was the result? How are things different now?

I also encourage you to bring some sort of kibble or beverage (no alcohol, please) to share with your peers from Alternate Histories. What sort of food is popular in your Alternate History? I think it's important we learn that.

Do I need to RSVP? [back to top]
Well, that would be nice, yeah. Just drop me an e-mail, if you don't mind.

Do I need to bring a gift? [back to top]
Holy cow, no way! I've got plenty of stuff! Look, if you show up, if you're smiling and having a good time and meeting new people and tasting interesting food and learning about how close so many odd things have come to happening or not happening, then that is plenty gift enough! Really.
