Mostly, I think people just need an EXCUSE…

Fair's fair

Fair's fair

I dated a gal who — among her other fine attributes — introduced me to the works of Nancy Friday, a feminist writer who pisses off mainstream feminists for a variety of reasons depending on who you ask. My most interesting insight reading Friday’s work (particularly The Power Of Beauty) was how brutal girls were to each other, and how much that seemed appropriate all the way through to adulthood.

This has colored my perceptions of a lot of interactions ever since, and I’ve noticed much more keenly some of the interesting flavors of interactions.

But I digress…

I read this article yesterday and have been chewing on it ever since:

Testosterone link to aggression ‘all in the mind’

I am FASCINATED by the insight this study provides. I am fascinated by the conclusions one must draw reading about it and its results.

It reminds me a lot of the studies that show other assumptions (such as sugar making kids more hyper) dead-ass bullshit when the bright light of a double-blind study is shined upon them.

I love science. It kicks ass nine ways from Sunday.

“There, but for the grace…”

I think if the threat of eternal hellfire and damnation is truly the ONLY thing keeping someone from murdering, raping, and otherwise causing mischief, then I WANT them subscribing to such a belief system, going to church, and working diligently every waking moment to use their religion to overcome their psychopathic tendencies.

Just because I might not need it doesn’t mean I’m not willing to support other people who do, and are getting the help they need.
