Good morning!
I am thrilled to make a couple of short announcements.
One, the teaser-trailer for Dream-Quest was very well-received at the Lovecraft Film Festival. many people came up and chatted with me about it. Also, someone foolishly let me intro a few sections of the shorts and I was able to give away all half dozen of my promotional t-shirts, posters, zoog-shaped cookies, and nearly all of my postcards. Way fun!
I saw some of the coolest movies there and if you missed it this year, then I encourage you to definitely make next year's festival. In addition to being (come hell or high water) Dream-Quests screen debut, it's gonna be a big blowout with lots of guests and weird fun. At least, that's what the pixies told me and I never know if they're just trying to get metal buttons from me.
The other piece of news is that the Leica reel (or "rough cut") is done. It was a huge amount of work, but it represents probably the best model of the movie so far. The current time is around 98 minutes, which is just about right for an animated feature.
Right now (although I'm taking a couple of hours to send out a few assignments and this letter) I'm doing the actual animation. This is taking chunks of the rough cut, making them into self-contained animations, then re-importing them into the timeline of the movie. It is sloooow going, but so far, looking really nice!
I've updated a few things on the website, including four new pictures from the Lovecraft Film Festival, so feel free to cruise through there.
I hope you'll take a look at the "Wanna Help...?" page. One of the things that I am really jonesing for is helpers with animation. I've designed this project in such a way that the animation can be passed around to pretty much as many people as want to play. The most rudimentary stuff only requires a bit of Photoshop/Photoshop knowledge, and depending on how advanced you wanna get, I can swing you really advanced pieces to animate. Anything anyone else does directly affects how cool the movie turns out.
Okay, y'all go out and have a lovely Saturday evening and think of me here, animating my fingers to the bone and my eyes to the raw, red nerves. Heh.
Cheers,
Edward
