Scripting comic books? How can I not love this job? Writing comic scripts is the ultimate power trip. Pissed off at the mailman delivering your copy of Mexican Donkey Lady Quarterly a little ragged around the edges? No problem, just destroy the Universe a few times.
I had to start with humor, of course. It is most accessible. Dark Horse Comics #11 published a delicious short story by me entitled "Aliens: Taste". It featured a kick-ass Godzilla cover by Art Adams, too. Not the only time work of mine has appeared under an Adams cover.
Dark Horse Comics also published a serial story. "The Thing from Another World: Questionable Research", a 32-page 4-part serial appeared in issues #13-16 which moved really fast. No room for playing around here. It featured art by Ted Naifeh, Moose Baumann, and Alex Niņo. Although I doubt it will ever happen, I really hope this is reprinted someday.
Caliber's award-winning anthology comic Negative Burn published five different short stories of mine over a period of a couple of years. "Father" was pencilled by Casey Jones, one of my favorite artists. Check out Casey's demon from that story. "The Calculus Test" was also pencilled by Casey. "Inspiration", "The Tensor Matrix: FTL", and "The Tensor Matrix: Salvage" also appeared in the pages of Negative Burn. "The Tensor Matrix: Salvage" was drawn by the talented Paul Mendoza, who did some work on A Bug's Life.
I've also finished a project for The Upper Deck, but I have my doubts it'll ever see the light of day, what with the way the comics market has gone into the dirty wet muckystuff of a Manhattan taxicab floor.
At least we still have Beany Babies and the Yen!
